My name is Sarah Darr. I have lived in the San Antonio area for three years. Prior to that, I lived in Southern California, where I was born and raised. I am married and have one son.
As far as my music background, I started piano lessons at age five, with my mother as my teacher. I took formal lessons for ten years. When I was in fifth grade, I started playing the flute in the school band and continued to do so through high school, doing both concert and marching band.
After I graduated high school, I attended junior college and was part of the Chamber Singers choir at the local city college. Once I transferred to university, I stopped doing extracurricular music activities and focused more on my major, Elementary Education. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and also completed the credential program for elementary-level education.
I then worked as a substitute teacher until our son was born and then we moved to Texas shortly after his birth. I mention my teaching credential because I feel that my background in elementary education helps immensely as I teach children to play the piano.
